Watermen’s Heritage Tour with Great Teachers: June 17, 2015

So grateful to Marilou who secured a grant that allowed her teachers from King William to join us on for a Heritage Tour! What a great group we had and such beautiful weather! A little crabbing, tonging for oysters, seeing pound nets and Smith Point Lighthouse, cruising to Reedville by Omega Protein factory to enjoy a delicious lunch at Cockrells Creek Deli. Seeing the sailing training vessel Picton Castle along the way was the icing on the cake! A fun day…appreciate your business!IMG_2426IMG_2429IMG_2430IMG_2428IMG_2434IMG_2436IMG_2440

Watermen’s Heritage Tour: June 16, 2015

What a pleasure to take sisters Barb from Wisconsin and Gail from Tennessee on our Watermen’s Heritage Tour! Pulling a crab pot with 3 jimmies in it let us talk crabs! Saw plenty of ospreys, some sharing a fish on their nests. Barb tried tonging oysters. We got up close to see how pound nets work and got up close to see Smith Point Lighthouse. Thanks ladies for getting on the water with us! Appreciate your business!

Up the River: June 12, 2015

Thanks Dave for the opportunity to meet your family…ages 6 – 80! We caught plenty of fish in the Potomac but the new regulation of a minimum 20″ keeper size has putting a hurting on us. Many 19″ fish going back. Glad to have you all fish with us…appreciate your business!IMG_2391

Big Day for Grandkids: June 11, 2015

While we really missed having Jim and Tammy aboard, they sent their grandkids and family and the rockfish keep them pretty busy, even though most of them were under the 20″ keeper size. Good work kids…hoping your grandparents can make the next trip! Appreciate your business!IMG_2386

Schooner Columbia on the Potomac: June 6, 2015

While fishing in the Potomac with our group from Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center we were fortunate to see the schooner Columbia heading down the Potomac River. She was a beautiful 141′ steel hull schooner, replicated after the famous 1923 Gloucester fishing schooner known for its speed and seaworthiness. What a treat!IMG_2381

Hunter’s Trip Home: May 19, 2015

Hunter took time during his trip home from China to bring his family fishing with us. He tried his luck with his fly rod in the jetties before heading in with a good catch. Great meeting you Hunter and look forward to having you all back aboard. Appreciate your business!IMG_2379

Turning the Corner: May 17, 2015

After running several trips with patient customers who experienced a tough catch with the trophy season’s new regualtions, we finally turned the corner. Ken’s group enjoyed a solid day of fishing, bringing back to Sloop Creek Lodge good keeper fish. See you in the fall Ken…appreciate your business!IMG_2378
